Trace
GRADIENT's Trace is an electroacoustic instrument that leverages the sonic properties of Arkansan red cedar to provide a tactile, intimate sound-making experience. From subtle scrapes to forceful thwaks, Trace invites playful exploration and careful listening.
Assembled by hand from locally-sourced Arkansan red cedar, every Trace features a unique wood-grain appearance and a unique sound. Great for playing by hand or for use as a general-purpose amplification surface, Trace's embedded contact microphone picks up even the slightest touch. All units offer a 1/4" contact mic output for easy connection to effect pedals, audio interfaces, and more.
Trace is built in both 6x6" and 10x10" variants, each ~2-1/4" thick. All versions feature non-slip wooden feet on their bottom surface, ensuring it won't go anywhere when played with reasonable force. Naturally, the wooden surface will begin to show wear as it is played—but play nicely, treat it with care, and it will last.
